First off, there is a lot of finger pointing by the President towards the Republicans for not acting on his "Jobs Bill", never mind that the Democrats in congress want nothing to do with it either. In fact the House wanted to put it to a vote and was blocked by the Dems.
Obama has already turned this into political campaigning. When he went to Ohio and stood on the bridge connecting Ohio and Kentucky. Did he not realize that both Boehner and McConnell support rebuilding the bridge?
Does the President realize that when the first stimulus bill was passed, these kind of programs should have been funded, but weren't? Well, where did that money go? Well, in Ohio, then governor Ted Stickland simply used the federal money to pay for already in process construction projects and then used the state money to balance the budget.
Wait, what?
That's right. The first stimulus created 1 job in Ohio. And it only lasted as long as it took for the sign painter to make up some new signs proclaiming that these projects were made possible by the stimulus.
In a quick aside to the unemployed protesting on Wall St. and around the country, my question to you is this: Are you an experience construction worker? If not, this bloated infrastructure "jobs" bill will do absolutely nothing for you. It will pay mostly union controlled construction companies that are already working. Sure if a few more construction workers get a job and buy coffee every morning, you may be able to get a job at Starbucks, but only if you believe in trickle down economics.
